Why Droughtless exists

Irrigation is a physics problem. We treat it like one.

Landscape irrigation is the largest controllable water use on most commercial properties, and by EPA estimates as much as half of it is wasted. Rates climb every year, restrictions tighten, and the filings multiply. Yet on nearly every property in the country, the decision of when and how long to water is still made by a timer on a wall.

The industry’s answer has been to bolt a weather lookup onto that timer. Ours is to treat the problem like the physics it is. Water moving through soil, pipes, and plants obeys laws that can be simulated, which means the right schedule can be computed, checked against real sensors, and proven after the fact. Acting on that conviction meant building the entire stack ourselves, from the soil model and the optimizer down to the controller and the sensor boards, because a property can’t be simulated with parts that guess.

The mission is the name. A Droughtless property keeps its landscape healthy through the driest years, on exactly as much water as that takes, with the receipts to prove it.
